Punjab AgriMarketing Company (PAMCO) handed over its first Cold Cargo Centre (CCC) situated at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Cargo Complex, Lahore to Agility International on a three year operating license. Agility International is a leading multinational logistics company and has the state of the art technology to manage its operations. Agility International is strongly committed to invest its resources in the improvement of supply chain of perishable commodities in Pakistan.

PAMCO has been established by the Government of Punjab for the development of Agriculture sector in Punjab. The cold store at Allama Iqbal international airport is one of the first initiatives by the government of the Punjab and a first step towards developing a modern post-harvested infrastructure. The facility at Allama Iqbal International Airport will provide improved and high quality value perishable commodities such as fruits, vegetables and meat, both for export and local markets. Moreover this cold storage is designed to store multi products at varying temperatures with additional facility of blast chamber. Exporters, importers and food traders can maximize profits by using this facility to enhance their export volumes. This facility will ultimately result in increasing the per capita income of the farmers by enabling them to shift away from traditional crops to high-value, high density farming.

PAMCO besides establishing cold stores at various airports across Punjab is already working on building packing houses (HACCP certified) at various places, close to the major production areas across Punjab, provide certification, establish grading standards and help educate growers to grow products according to the latest methods and create a linkage between exporters and foreign buyers to help export commodities from Pakistan. One of the upcoming projects of PAMCO is Mango Pack House with Hot water treatment (HWT) and cold store facility.

PAMCO works closely with Agriculture Department, Punjab and Marketing Department, Punjab so as to coordinate efforts and have the maximum impact on the Agribusiness sector of Punjab.
