Pakistan receives export orders worth $90m for onion

Pakistan has received export orders for onion worth $90 million from Middle East and Persian Gulf countries

The chairman of All Pakistan Vegetable and Fruit Market Association, Haji Shahjehan told Geo News that the Pakistani exporters are selling onion at $300 per tonne to Middle East, Malaysia, Singapore and Bangladesh.

Pakistan has thus far received export orders for onion worth $250,000 to 300,000, which are expected to rise.

He further added that over 70,000 tonnes of onion have been exported out of the received orders; he said that Pakistani onions are of better quality and cheaper than Indian onions which is why Pakistan’s onion exports are increasing.
