This was stated by UAF Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan, while addressing the participants of 3rd national training workshop on "Genetic resources and molecular techniques in livestock production," organised by Department of ABG and Livestock Management in collaboration with British Council and Higher Education Commission Islamabad.
Dr Khan urged the scientists to establish a reliable database of gene pool of indigenous livestock breeds and other species. He informed that UAF administration is vigorously pursuing the objectives of internationalisation enabling its faculty and students to enhance their capacity by working on projects of mutual interest and to broaden their vision
He maintained though the impact of publishing research papers in review journals raise it professional ratings but such rating should have its positive impact on society. Dr Khan revealed that under Pak-US Collaborative Programme, UAF has submitted about 43 proposals, which are likely to be approved shortly.
Earlier, presenting the welcome address Professor Dr Muhammda Younis, Dean Faculty of Animal Husbandry, informed the gathering that under HEC-BC JHELL Programme, this workshop was 3rd and last in wherein 15 participants would be trained regarding molecular genetics, applied electrophoresis, biodiversity and animal genetics, DNA extraction and quantification etc. |
